Hello,
I’m Carmel Davis-McCluskie, a fully qualified psychotherapist registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) with over 20 years of experience working in many sectors.
I work across various issues and specialise in sessions for individuals, couples, groups, families, teenagers, students, low-income earners, adoptive parents, veterans and young mothers to process groups, anger management and personal development. I’m a certified Baranado’s Adoptions therapist supporting children, families, refugees and teachers. Also experienced working for blue light services such as the ambulance, police and fire services, supporting individuals or groups experiencing trauma or stress-related issues in the workplace.
I’ve been working with Marriage Care for many years seeing couples from an array of different backgrounds, cultures, religions, non-religions helping couples sustain healthy marriages and relationships providing support in times of difficulty. I also offer pre-marriage preparation too and support couples in healthy ending, especially when children are involved.
After undergoing therapy, myself, the experience enhanced my relationship with self/others leaving me more empowered. I qualified in psychotherapy and extended my studies to incorporate years of advanced training in many therapeutic fields.
For me, it's about connecting on a human level. Creating a safe space to connect with your inner strengths and vulnerabilities is essential to working through what is affecting you. I help you build a strong foundation for truth, change, awareness, understanding, acknowledgement, forgiveness or acceptance of self or others.
Psychotherapy is a helpful way to understand yourself better – you can separate past from present and learn how to respond to situations rather than react and work through issues on a one-to-one basis. Therapy is a platform to practise something new, and at times, it can be uncomfortable or challenging, but it’s a safe environment to see different parts of your greater self on a far deeper level. It’s a privilege to be a part of your journey.
